Here's what we're working with on this one - a sloped yard right up against the house that needed to be held back properly. Without a solid retaining wall, you get erosion, shifting soil, and water sitting in all the wrong places. It's one of those problems that only gets worse the longer you wait.

We're building this wall the right way - from the ground up. That means a proper gravel base for drainage, carefully stacked block courses, and checking for level as we go. Every row matters. If you rush the early stages or skip the base work, the whole thing shifts over time. That's not something we're willing to cut corners on.

The block pattern you're seeing here is intentional. Staggered joints across each course lock the wall together and distribute pressure evenly. It's not just about looks - it's structural. A well-built retaining wall can hold back thousands of pounds of soil, especially when water is added to the mix after a heavy rain.

This is the kind of hardscaping work that does a lot of heavy lifting for a property. It defines the space, controls drainage, and gives the yard a clean, finished edge that holds up season after season. Once the backfill is complete and everything is capped out, this wall is going to look sharp and perform even better.
